The Geneseo Performing Arts Program would like to say thank you to American Family Insurance & the Clifton Family for their financial gift that was used to purchase a new enclosed trailer. Our program has grown beyond the capabilities of our existing trailer. Because of that, we have had to rely on borrowing a trailer and/or using parents vehicles to transport uniforms and equipment to and from performances. This new trailer will allow us to travel without the restriction and burden of relying on multiple vehicles. Thank you so much for your support and generosity.
Geneseo Students and Directors
Welcome to a new school year and to the Geneseo Performing Arts Council, also know as GPAC. GPAC is the non-profit organization that supports band, choir, speech and theatre in the Geneseo School District in grades KG - 12th. If your child participates in one of these, then you are automatically a member of GPAC! GPAC meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 in the choir room at the high school. All are welcome to attend the meetings. This is a great way to learn and stay engaged with the directors and other parents. We also have a lot of fun together!
Annually on average GPAC spends over $30,000 in support of the arts programs and this does not include the value of the hours our many volunteers donate. GPAC raises money through fundraisers and relies on the support of volunteers to help make these fundraisers successful. Our current budget for the 2022-2023 school year is over $40,000 and that does not include the $10,000 we already spent on the new trailer and sound cart. Below is a short list of some of the things that GPAC has supported recently.
- Over $13,000 in support of the Middle School music programs
- $1,500 in support of the Elementary Music programs
- Over $10,000 in support of the High School music programs
- $8,000 in support of Marching Band/Winter Drum Line
- $900 in support of the Speech program
- $3,500 in scholarships to Middle and High School Students towards any pursuit in the arts program
So how can you help? BECOME INVOLVED! Come to a meeting, volunteer or donate! Every little bit helps! GPAC’s LARGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR, Harvest Fest, is a great opportunity to do this. Harvest Fest is coming up on September 24-25 and is where we generate 52% of our funding for the year. It takes up to 350 volunteers to make Harvest Fest a success. We hope you will join us this year by volunteering a few hours of your time. As a thank you, you will receive free entry into the Maple Leaf Marching Band Classic on Saturday. This year we have two sign ups, one for adults and another one just for students. Please encourage any high school students you know to sign up on the student sign up. This will be shared with them through email this week as well.
